Secret Deals in the North 40 Fly Shop

If there is one thing I have noticed fisherman love, it's secrets. Secret streams, secret flies, and secret fishing holes are part of our culture. This blog is to let you in on one more secret that I still haven't heard anyone mention.
There are certain products within the fly shop that don't look as "glamorous" because they have an easily affordable price tag. Interesting isn't it? Everyone wants the Sage X, but doesn't give Echo the time of day.
Well here are 4 products I have noticed even the fly shop managers buying because they are a quality product that you don't have to blow your paycheck on.
Echo Carbon XL
I personally have cast the Carbon XL, and immediately started thinking of when I am going to buy this rod. This medium-fast fly casting rocket has a matte brown blank color, alignment dots for quick assembly, anodized aluminum reel seat, single foot snake guides, and is a four piece rod.
This rod comes with a rod tube, lifetime warranty, and retails for $139.99. If you don't believe how well it performs, stop by one of our fly shops and cast one. You will be blown away.

Echo Ion Reel
Sale after sale, review after review I have heard nothing but great things about Echo's Ion reel. I originally set one up with our shop's OPST line as a demo reel, and after shortly using it, I had to have one. I now own an Ion, have dropped/stepped on it several times, and it continues to function flawlessly.
The large arbor spool, dependable Rulon disc drag, and durable solid alloy construction gives me confidence when handling any fish that dares to challenge me. I enjoy telling customers, "You can throw that reel, and it will continue to work."
Although I wouldn't recommend throwing your new reel, it has that kind of presence. Retailing at $79.99, it is no wonder why many of our fly shop managers are seen fishing with this reel in their fishing reports.

Lamson Liquid 3 Pack
Here is yet another product I simply could not pass up. It seems like I bought this 3 pack the week I started working for North 40 Outfitters because I knew it was too sweet.
One reel frame and 3 spools for $150? Are you kidding me?!
It's funny to think that one Liquid reel retails for $99, and here I am essentially getting three for $150. Math is tough, but not that tough. This reel features a large arbor design, pressure cast aluminum frame/spool, sealed conical drag, and is 100% built in Idaho. This is my current go-to reel for my 8 wt., and I'm glad I went with this one.
The 3 pack is only available at the shop, but you can buy a single Lamson Liquid Reel here
Simms Waypoints Hip Pack
In my opinion, this is currently the best deal our fly shops have to offer. These hip packs come in small and large. The small retails for $99.99 and the large retails for $149.99. Not bad for a pack right?
Well since they are currently on double clearance, the small is priced at $29.97, and the large is $44.97. I could just finish right here, but I figure I should probably tell you a couple of the features.
There is enough room in these packs to fit your fly boxes and lunch. 8 pockets, 1 zip-able mesh compartment, and removable tippet holder, tool holder, and straps. This pack is as light as they come. How we still have a couple on the shelves is beyond me.
