Kamik Hunter Boots Review

As a sportsman here in the Northwest, I have been on the hunt for a comfortable pair of warm, waterproof boots that doesn't cost a quarter of my paycheck. When I noticed the Kamik Hunter boots had hit our shelves, I was hopeful these were the ticket.

Steelhead season was fast approaching, and $49.99 seemed like a fair price to give the Kamik's a shot.

Features of the Kamik Hunter Boot

The Hunter series looks like a normal rubber boot on the surface, but once in your hand, or better yet on your feet, it's apparent that these boots have been beefed up to handle the cold and wet conditions that are typical here in the Northwest.

The felt liner and drawstring nylon collar on top (to keep the snow out) seemed to me like pretty unique features in a basic rubber boot.

Field Testing the Kamik boots on the Clearwater

Their first test run was on the Clearwater River here in Idaho. They were immediately put to work and it was apparent these boots were going to serve me well.

The drawstring nylon collar worked great at keeping the dust and sand out of the interior of the boot while at camp, and the insulation and tough rubber exterior allowed me to withstand rain, river and cool night temperatures.

Although not on my feet while fishing, these boots served as a great reprieve from cold feet after a day fishing thigh deep in the Clearwater's frigid water. After three months, I have to say that these Kamik's have been exactly what I hoped for this fall.

These boots have kept me cozy and dry from my exploits steelheading in Idaho and Washington to cutting firewood and everything else in between and are a must have for any guy in the Northwest spending time outside this fall and winter.

They are easy to get on and off, will hold up to daily abuse, and are great for a wide range of applications. It's convenient that the liner is removable so I can wear these boots year-round as well.

Bonus material: Kamik Hunter boots, Recyclable Material

After a bit of research I was also made aware that the liners in these boots are made in Canada of 100% recyclable material which is a bonus for Mother Nature... plus the rubber they use in their manufacturing process is also 100% recyclable.

[Kamik] spent two years perfecting [their] RubberHe, and it was worth it. As light as helium and as strong as iron, it offers superior traction and flexibility. Plus, it's 50% lighter than natural rubber and is 100% recyclable, so it's light on nature too.
