With everyone going back to school, rivers should be nice and quiet. Not much has changed from last week for our trout rivers. The weather is still calling for temperatures in the 80s and 90s and no rain in the forecast. So, rivers are going to be low and warm. Terrestrials are still going to be out and producing great fish. The Snake and Ronde are in good shape and producing great bass. Current Conditions Lochsa River near Lowell, ID - The river flow is at 434 cfs, so the river is low. Reports haven’t changed much from last week. The river has been fishing great higher up. Hoppers are out in full swing, but parachute Adams and purple hazes are still producing. The weather is still hot, but fishing has been excellent in our area. The rivers are low and warming up. Trout rivers are still producing great fish. With this heat, you will still want to fish early morning and late in the evening and give the fish a break during the afternoon when the weather starts to heat up. Bass rivers are still producing great fish right in town. Current Conditions Lochsa River near Lowell, ID - The river flow is at 496 cfs, so the river is down from last week. Reports say it's been fishing great higher up. Hoppers are out in full swing, but parachute Adams and royal coachmen are still producing. Baitfish patterns for streamers have been effective as well. Current Conditions It is HOT! Weather has been in the 100’s as of lately. The bass fishing on the Snake and Grande Ronde have been amazing. I also heard the Clearwater above Orofino has been fishing great for Bass. As for our Trout Rivers, they seem to be fishing great in the early morning when temps are lower. Best thing to do in the afternoon is to give the fish a break and have lunch. Then get back to it in the evening. Lochsa River near Lowell, ID - The Lochsa flows at 540 its perfect for wet wadding. Fishing has been good early in the morning to late evening. You will want to focus on Deep pockets of water or riffles. Stimulators and Parachute Adams are our go-to fly right now.
