St. Joe River Fishing Report 6.29.2017

Fishing is great on the Joe. Still a touch high in some of the regular upper-end spots, but again the flows are dropping every day, and that means more and more options are opening for wading. The lower stretches are fishing well out of the boat--and producing lots of fish.
Hatches will be very similar to the CDA River this time of year. PMD's, caddis, yellow sallies, rusty spinners, still a few big goldens out, too.
You can check out our PMD patterns here.
Nymphing in the pocket water will be deadly; tandem shorter nymph rigs with a large stone nymph and smaller bead head will produce well. Streamers in the fast water and pools will get fish… and bigger ones, too.
Attractor flies, stimmies, chubbies, Pmx’s with a mid to small size bead head dropper will be a great rig as well.
Swinging soft hackles in the late day to right at dark will be a great technique as there are more and more caddis starting to come off late, and this pattern is always a killer in the afternoon.
