Spokane River Report 8.5.16

I had the opportunity to fish the Spokane River for a few hours this week and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Action was consistent with double nymph rigs, fished below an indicator and Czech-style. When I arrived at the river, I noticed several clusters of midges flying just above the surface of the water, so I put on a size 18 Zebra Midge dropper, which accounted for half of the fish I caught.

Focus your attention on the riffles, pocket water, and the heads of runs. These areas provide a sanctuary for trout during low water, while also giving you the best shot at less selective fish. Hopper-Dropper rigs were also made for this type of water, so don’t be afraid to ditch the indicator and tie on a Morrish Hopper or White Cloud Hopper instead.
Come into the shop if you have questions about where to go on the Spokane. It’s a big river, but don’t let that deter you from trying one of the best trout fisheries in the region!

Sounds like you have the same bug that many of us have. I do suppose there are certainly worse sicknesses to have other than wanting to be out on the water constantly :) I just sent an email over to Wayne to give him a heads up about your post here. In the meantime, next time you are in town swing into the store and see if Wayne is around. I'm sure you guys will be able to find something to talk about. Haha. Thanks again and good luck out there.
Hi Kevin,
Thank you for reaching out to me and reading our fishing reports! Feel free to give me a call on my cell phone (509) 294-8122, so we can meet up and fish the Spokane sometime in the near future. I'm always looking to meet new people to fish with. More importantly, thank you for volunteering your time with Project Healing Waters!
Sincerely,
Wayne Jordan
