Our Farmer's Market Farmstock

That's right: Farmstock is free to vendors. It's our way of helping to build a better community and saying thank you. It's been mentioned before, but it's important to mention again.

Farmstock is about giving our customers a place to "come full circle with us."Â Perhaps you bought chicks in the spring and found yourself with too many eggs (is there such a thing?), or perhaps you got a little overzealous with the number of tomato plants your put in the garden.
Maybe you bought some horse shoes or used rope for a crafting project and made one too many wreaths.
Where can you sell your wares or produce to like-minded people? Farmstock was our solution!
So what is Farmstock?
Chances are you've been to at least one farmer's market in your life.
Last year at North 40, we hosted our version of the farmer's market, called Farmstock- we're doing it again this year. We are hoping, with your help, this year's event will be even better. It's free to attend, and free to become a vendor if you want to set up shop at our shop-
So, every farmer's market has its own flavor and vibe, but what can you expect at a North 40 Farmstock?
Farmstock Produce
If you're looking truly farm fresh produce- you can't beat Farmstock. This is all locally grown produce you won't normally find in the grocery store. At most locations last year, we had a large variety of produce ranging from peaches and plums to pumpkins and broccoli.
Another staple item you'll see at most Farmstock locations? Chickens and the chicken egg.
We sell many chicks and chicken supplies during the spring, and when these chicks, or last year's chicks, start to lay or are big enough for food that's when people bring them to Farmstock!
Farmstock Food
Food at Farmstock is a category we are hoping to build out. Last year, we had some great vendors come sell their food from their food trucks, stands- some even set up grills right in the parking lot.
However, not all locations had food vendors every week, so if you know anyone interested in participating, please feel free to share this article with them they can sign up for free here.
Farmstock Crafts
We had everything from handmade flag boxes and necklaces to hand sewn baby clothes there were paintings for sale, blacksmith demonstrations- the list is so extensive that it would be hard to categorize here- and this year?
Well, we're hoping to get even more unique wares out on the scene so people that come in can get a true sense of what their community is producing.
Farmstock Entertainment
Besides the entertainment you experience from getting out and enjoying the community, at Farmstock, we encourage local musicians to come out and take the stand!
Last year we had live music at each location, this year well that depends on you guys!
If you know a band or musician you think would enjoy the opportunity to come down and showcase their skills tell them about Farmstock!
So why come to Farmstock???
Because each day is different, each city is different, but one thing is the same it's your community out there, showcasing their passions whether that's food, produce, crafts or music- it's all local and home grown.
With Farmstock, we've created a community space where you can enjoy the cities we live in-- Check out our list of Farmstock dates here.
Common Questions Regarding Farmstock
Q:Â What stores will Farmstock be held?
A: All 10 North 40 Outfitters will host Farmstock.
Q: What does it cost to be a Farmstock Vendor?
A: There are no fees for vendors or attendees of Farmstock. Plus, there's no commission charge either. It's about building a community.
Q: Do I have to be a vendor at all Farmstock events?
A: The quick answer is no, but as this event becomes more popular we know you won't want to miss one, especially the last one in October!
Q: Is this only open to traditional farmers market produce?
A: No, Farmstock is a celebration of everything local. Locally made crafts, art, music, baked goods, etc- If it's legal within your local community and state, we will consider you as a vendor. The most important aspect we are looking for is that your product be locally or regionally produced.
Q: Why is this event on Sunday?
A: Most farmer's markets are on Saturday and we don't want to compete with local farmer's markets. In fact, we want to help make those events better. By hosting ours on Sunday, we won't compete with established farmer's markets'“we hope to give those vendors and attendees an additional chance to showcase their products and passions.
Q: Are permits required?
A: It is the responsibility of the vendor to have any and all necessary permits to sell their products.
Q: Why do I have to fill out an application?
A: Space is limited at each store. Applications will be reviewed by store managers who will then decide which vendors will be allowed to participate. One of our goals is to have a strong diversity of products. This process will help ensure that happens.
I just looked into the details for you and what you have stated is correct, for this event we do ask the vendors to bring their own personal furnishings. With that said we can definitely provide the space to set up but how each vendor will set up and display their products is completely up to them. This is Farmstock and we want people to participate so if you want to display your bracelets on your wrist dressed like a cowgirl, do it. Please don't let the lack of a tent or table hold you back, we certainly do not want this to hinder your experience as a potential vendor, so that is why we welcome your creativity in the space we provide.
I wish you the best of luck in your creative thoughts when displaying your sunscreen bracelets. Let me know if you have any other questions, I am happy to help.
Thanks,
The permits you will need are going to be specific based on the state you are located in. The best place to find out what permits you will need will be to contact your local City of Commerce. They should be able to either tell you directly or direct you to the proper person. Just off hand, I believe Idaho requires a "selling permit" that I believe is needed for any type of item. I am not sure if the state of Washington has a similar permit or not. I am in Montana and I am fairly sure you would not need a permit for selling jewelry, as we typically only see permits needed for food items. But again, your local contacts will be best because they do vary by state and for this event vendors are responsible to have the proper permits. Let me know how it goes and I would be happy to help more if I can. Thanks!
Great question! The answer is yes, it would be best if you signed up now even if you don't plan on being at the 1st Farmstock event. Once you get your application is the store will contact you and talk with you about which events you will be at and any other needs/questions you have. It is nice to get in all the applications because that helps the stores to organize each event. By knowing who will be at each event they can better determine what type of vendors to try and get involved to have a well rounded event. I hope that helps but if you still have questions just let us know. And thanks for participating!
