Lewiston Idaho Fishing Report 11.2.2017

Clearwater River
Fishing has been pretty tough on the Clearwater. Reports have been similar to the ones we were getting last week. Slow fishing, lots of casting practice lately. Anglers are finding fish up higher in the system. Most folks who I talk to have been fishing above Cherry Lane. Lots of anglers are starting to throw sink-tips and Intruders. If you are a fair-weather angler be cautious, there will be some rain on Friday and Saturday. Friday may have rain all day, and Saturday is calling for rain in the morning and in the evening around 5 p.m. Up to the weekend the days should be mild. Water temperatures have been in the upper 40s and flows have been around 4,000 cubic feet per second. Don’t be afraid to throw a floating line, even when many anglers are switching to those tips.
Grande Ronde River
The Grande Ronde has a current flow of 1,040 cubic feet per second as I write this report. I love fishing at these flows. I have had great fishing when the river is in this stage. As for reports from anglers, things have slowed down a lot around the confluence. I haven’t had a report from anyone fishing around Boggan’s Oasis, but fish are scattered through the system and you might find them anywhere. Hard work pays off. Skagit heads and sink-tips are what most people are fishing on the Ronde right now. Nymphing will catch fish as well; DB Stone and an Egg Sucking Leech would be my choice.
Snake River
Traffic, lots of traffic. Local anglers are telling me that this is the busiest they have seen the Snake in all of their years angling. Water temps have still been in the 50s, but they’re getting close to dropping into the high 40s. I have had a few reports of fish being caught, but it definitely is not fishing how it normally does this time of year. About 3,000 fish have come over the dam in the last week. The total number since July 1 is a little over 64,000 fish. A floating line with a #5 fly, and persistence is my recommendation.
