What is Tempo (CyLence) Ultra Pest Control?

From flyers to crawlers, pests can be an intrusive nuisance. They can cause all kinds of problems in your animal housing, farming, and ranching operations. We have found that there is something that does fight back against out-of-control pests. Effective and easy to use, CyLence Ultra is a fast-acting pest control that kills more than 60 varieties of pests from flies and spiders, termites and wasps, to beetles, gnats, and ticks, plus more.

Tempo (CyLence) is best for use on animal runs, animal holding areas, animal quarters, boarding kennels, chicken houses (when birds are not present), dairy barns, feedlots, horse stables, kennels, livestock barns and holding facilities, storage areas, storage rooms, trailers, turkey houses, utility rooms, and rooms in animal facilities.

Bottom line: CyLence Ultra Pest Control is a great product for anyone who needs to control or kill various pests in or around their animal facilities.

How Does Tempo (CyLence) Ultra Work?

A broad-spectrum pest control, Tempo (CyLence) contains 11.8% beta-cyfluthrin. Beta-cyfluthrin is a fifth-generation pyrethroid insecticide. This means it is fast-acting and requires only minimal doses to eliminate insects. Plus, it’s odorless and it will not stain or cause damage to surfaces.

Pros of CyLence Ultra

  • Tempo (CyLence) kills more than 60 pests, including flies, ants, spiders, darkling beetles, ticks and fleas as well as Asian lady beetles, silverfish and wasps

  • Tempo (CyLence) is easy to use

  • Tempo (CyLence) will not stain, or damage painted or varnished surfaces or other surfaces where water applied alone causes no damage

Cons of CyLence SC Ultra

  • If used outside and if it rains, Tempo (CyLence) will wash off the applied surface. So, you may need to re-apply it. However, if you do need pest control that won’t wash off in weather conditions, you may want to consider using a product like Annihilator Polyzone instead. Annihilator Polyzone’s formula protects the active ingredient from weather, wash-off, and mechanical abrasion. It also lasts longer than Tempo (CyLence), which can save you money over time because you won’t have to apply it as often.

Is CyLence Ultra Safe to Use?

Bottom line: Yes, Tempo (CyLence) is safe to use and can be used any time of year to prevent and control pests.

However, keep in mind: Don’t allow Tempo (CyLence) to drift onto crops or during weeks on which bees are actively foraging. Tempo (CyLence) is extremely toxic to fish and aquatic invertebrates. This means you should not apply Tempo directly to water or areas where surface water is present or in intertidal areas below the mean high-water mark. And, do not apply it when it’s windy as drift may occur. Also, animals should not be present when you're spraying Tempo (CyLence). It will dry relatively quickly but it is best to wait about two hours before re-introducing animals back to where you’ve just sprayed. Plus, any foodstuffs infested with pests should be removed and destroyed. And, of course, do not use Tempo (CyLence) in commercial food/feed handling establishments, restaurants or other areas where food is commercially prepared, processed, or served. (Food utensils and insecticides don’t mix!)

How to Use Tempo (CyLence) Ultra

Tempo (CyLence) is meant to be mixed with water and applied with a pump style sprayer or trigger spray bottle. For best application, you’ll want to use a low-pressure system with a fan type nozzle to uniformly cover areas. If you need to, you can re-treat areas 7-10 days after your initial application. Tempo (CyLence) lasts roughly 6-8 weeks, depending on where you spray it.

A good rule of thumb is to spray Tempo (CyLence) during spring cleaning around late April or early May, then again around the Fourth of July, and again around Labor Day.

When you spray Tempo (CyLence), it will look like a white, milky substance. And, depending on how porous the surface is, it might run a bit. For example, wood is more likely to absorb Tempo (CyLence), whereas it might run down a metal wall.

For indoor applications: spray the railings, fences, beams, cracks between boards, cracks in the floor, and doorways.

For outdoor applications: spray at least the first four feet from the ground up the side of the building. If your barn or building has a cement base, be sure to spray that too.

And, make sure to read the product label for complete product information, indications and applications instructions.

If you are using CyLence Ultra Pest Control Concentrate:

CyLence Ultra Pest Control Concentrate is intended to be mixed with water and applied with pump style sprayer or trigger spray bottle. Add the appropriate amount of product while filling the sprayer with water, and shake to mix. Use 1 Tablespoon (16 milliliters) of CyLence Ultra Pest Control Concentrate per 1,000 square feet in 1 gallon of water to adequately cover the area being treated, but which will not allow dripping or run off to occur. Diluted spray mixture can be stored overnight and applied the following day; however, mixture should be shaken prior to use to thoroughly mix the product.

If you are using CyLence Ultra Premise Spray:

Shake well before using. Mix 8 ml per gallon of water per 1000 sq.ft. For severe infestations use 16 ml per gallon of water per 1000 sq.ft. The solution should adequately cover the area being treated, but should note allow dripping or run-off to occur. Use a low pressure system with a fan type nozzle to uniformly apply the dilution.

Easy to use, Tempo (CyLence) is a fast and effective pest control that fights back against out-of-control pests.
