10 Days of ATA #4—Mystery Ranch’s Compact Pop-Up 28 Daypack Is Ultra-Versatile

Mystery Ranch Pop-Up 28 Pack—2018 Archery Trade Association Show

For 2018, Mystery Ranch introduced the Pop-Up 28 series to their line of packs. The Pop-Up 28 features 7075 aluminum rods that can be extended or taken down to transform the pack from a day-pack to a heavy-duty meat hauler. The pack's volume is 28 liters and features Mystery Ranch's Overload Shelf technology.

The pack retails for $299 and is a perfect day-pack for the minimalist hunter. Weighing 4.8 pounds, this pack is a workhorse for its compact size and we chose it as one of the most impressive new items we saw at ATA 2018.

Hi, I'm Alex from Mystery Ranch, here at ATA 2018. I want to show you the Pop-up 28, pretty cool new product that we're working on.

Pretty simple little day pack, but it's got our fully featured harnessing suite, fully adjustable yoke, multi-density belt. Really comfortable. It can carry a lot of gear. Carry it all day. Mostly a simple day pack, just a couple easy pockets. You know, pocket in the lid, pocket in the front, it does some organization there.

Side water bottle pockets so they're great for legs of tracking poles, that sort of thing, but what's really unique about this pack and is a pretty cool idea is if you release all your compression straps here on the sides, here, here, as well as the top.

It gains you access to our overload system, which allows for carrying meat, carrying extra gear, carrying camp, that sort of thing, but also what this frame system has is two aluminum stays that are actually collapsible, but in their extended configuration you can connect your load lifters to the top of the frame and then over the top of your load, to give you a nice, comfortable gear carry for, again, carrying out quarters or boned out deer. You can carry tree stands or you can carry pretty much whatever your heart desires in this little bag.

So that's the Pop-up 28. It also comes in an 18, but it's a pretty cool new product coming from Mystery Ranch this year.
