Sock of the Month: Smartwoolâ„¢ October
Smartwoolâ„¢ Men's PHD Ultra Light Mini
Our Sock of the Month for September 2014 is the Men's PHD Ultra Light Mini Smartwoolâ„¢ for $6.95.
This is by far the most comfortable sock I have ever worn- perhaps after writing a bunch of these Sock of the Month blogs (now a regular posting), it will be harder for me to write those words, but for now, let me reiterate: this is by far the most comfortable sock I have ever worn.
I came home from the Great Falls store with this sock, went to my friend's house to have the kids color Cecelia and get free Sprecher root beer opened it up and promptly lost it to my friend K, "I better try that on for you," she says to me in a "I'm-doing-this-for-your-own-good" kind of tone. Two days later, I got the sock back so I could actually wear it around and write it up here.
After I got my socks back from K, I went out during the week of September 8 in Great Falls to test this sock. Those of you that know Great Falls know the weather can be a little- "inclement" at times. This happened to be the case during my product testing. The week before it was 80 degrees and sunny all week. The week following, it was 80 degrees and sunny (this is projected as I am writing on 9/12/2014). But when I went out with this sock, it was about 45 degrees and rainy- perfect testing conditions for this "mild weather" jogging sock-don't you think?
The first thing I noticed when I put this sock on (besides the immediate comfort and fit) was all the areas of double reinforcement. This is a unique feature that most other socks lack. If you look at the picture, you will see that the areas of your foot which usually rub or chafe have been double reinforced. The comfort of the Merino wool, nylon and elastane fabric blend, the snug fit, and double reinforced impact areas all add up to extreme comfort, even just around the house.
(EDIT: apparently Smartwoolâ„¢ has a name for that double layering: patent pending ReliaWool Technology. Figures there should be a name for it; you really notice it when you put this sock on.)
My field review of this product? I highly recommend these socks for any outdoor activities you might have in mind for the fall. Even if that's simply city jogging I used these socks while out with my kids at the park and it kept my feet dry and warm the entire time, despite the fact that it was just above freezing and had been raining for three days. [Yes, I also field test my children.] I wore these socks under my ropers to my brother's place outside of Great Falls. I rode Pete the Paint and these socks performed well again: superior comfort, warmth and dryness.
We have a ridiculous deal on these socks brought to you by the purchasing team at our store going on through October.
$6.95 for Smartwoolâ„¢? You won't find that anywhere else.
This sale is, of course only while supplies last when I was in the Great Falls store picking up my demo pair, there were about 8 pairs left on the display rack. So hurry in and snatch up our lowest price on this sock or check our online store.
